                                           Public Awareness Campaign Individual Report
Write a 3 page paper discussing your experience with this project. (Pros/Cons/ room for improvement/what you learned/what was difficult, etc)Discuss your group’s process and the choices you all made to make your research topic relatable to your target audience.
During this group project, I learned many things and felt like my group and I did good overall. The directions to the project were clear and mostly easy. I liked how we were able to choose between the Children’s book and the Campaign. When we got into groups, we made a list of all the topics we would like to discuss. Most of us were interested in the science aspect of an issue while others were more interested in the human and environment aspects. Ultimately, we came to an agreement of choosing Climate Change because it was a wide subject and had everyone’s interest. It made us feel comfortable with the topic since we had some knowledge of it. The role that I assigned myself showed some strength because I felt pretty confident in my research but a little weakness I still faced was becoming very nervous to present my part after all the confidence I had. Our audience was every human being living on the planet, especially the government and those who do not believe in climate change. I relate to them because I am also a human being living on planet earth that watches the news and sees many different places getting destroyed by natural disasters. When watching the news I also see the predictions of what scientists determine when it comes to climate change. I also relate to this because though I am not directly affected by natural disasters, other communities and countries are being impacted so it is good to know what is going on around me.           The rhetorical moves that I used in the PAC are to inform the audience about the effects of climate change and pathos by using images to demonstrate the damages and ultimately the audience have empathy for this problem and hopefully bring in supporter engagement. I also used logos in a map of the United States, which showed the many natural disasters that occur in the United States. The map can help the audience realize that the number of natural disasters that occur is increasing throughout the years. It was successful because it will get the audience thinking about what possible things they can do to help lessen this issue. For example, I used an image of a natural disaster that occurred in the Philippines so that the audience can know what destruction is doing to people all over the world. The audience may have some type of empathy for that country and the people that were killed.

The majority of my group members’ contributions were very helpful. However, one member abandoned their task which made it a little difficult because there was no communication coming from her side to let us know what was happening. Yaires, in the beginning when the professor presented this group project, was active, meaning that the first time we broke into groups, she spoke on what part she wanted to work on and also found sources for her part. We created an IMessage group chat to discuss any problems we had so that we can help each other out yet she only communicated one time. Since she and I were working together on the Disastrous Events section, we split our parts where I would talk about the effects of climate change and the types of natural disasters while she discusses the opposers and supporters for climate change. Alongside this task, she also volunteered to write the government letter. It did affect our performance as this member did not inform the group of their situation as a result, we were left with extra work and pressure. We brought this issue to Professor Matias and she emailed her. A week later, I continued to text her and she still had not responded. When we went to class and broke into our groups, I informed Malek and Aishah about my efforts to reach out to Yaires. We decided to inform Professor Matias once more and lucky she came up with a solution. She added a new member to our group. We gave Jashanpreet the work that once was Yaires responsibility. Jashanpreet was able to successfully complete the task. We also had a little difficulty in operating the CUNY Academic Commons website because it was our first time using it. For example, we had trouble mainly adding more menu buttons and granting access for the group members to edit. As a result, with Professor Matias help we were able to understand and move forward with our project.

Overall, I really enjoyed this final group project despite the few challenges we faced. I have also acquired a large amount of knowledge on reflecting in our own work and how to improve from our mistakes and also how we can tackle obstacles. We collaborated and communicated well with one another, which helped improve our project. We were determined, hopeful, and supportive. The members of this group helped one another which ultimately led to a successful public awareness campaign.  I believe the benefit of working with a group made the process faster and more efficient. It felt good to meet new people, help one another, and learn.
